Speed radar enforcement and AI intrusion detection

Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia

THE STORY

Qiddiya is being built as the Kingdom's capital of entertainment, sports and the arts — a city where millions of visitors a year will share roads with construction fleets, event traffic and VIP motorcades. AFAQY deployed a unified layer of speed radar enforcement and AI-powered intrusion detection that keeps both the public roads and the restricted zones safe, from a single operations view.

The challenge

A giga-project under construction is two cities at once: a live worksite with thousands of vehicles and workers, and a destination opening to the public in phases. Speeding on the internal road network was the leading safety risk, while restricted zones — rides under commissioning, utility corridors, event back-of-house areas — faced constant pressure from unauthorized entry. Manual patrols could not cover a footprint this size, around the clock.

What we built

AFAQY deployed speed radar cameras across Qiddiya's internal road network, capturing violations with evidence-grade imagery and feeding them directly into the security operations room. In parallel, AI video analytics on the camera network watch the perimeter and restricted zones for intrusion — distinguishing people, vehicles and animals, filtering out wind-blown debris and shadows, and raising an alert only when a real breach occurs.

How it runs today

Operators see every radar and every camera on one map. A speeding vehicle triggers an evidence package — plate, speed, time, location, imagery — in seconds. An intrusion alert carries a live video clip and the exact zone breached, so response teams drive straight to the point. What was a patrol-and-paperwork operation is now a measured, auditable safety system that scales as the city opens.

WHAT WE DEPLOYED
  • Speed radar cameras
  • AI intrusion detection
  • Edge-AI CCTV
  • Security operations room
  • Fiber + 5G backhaul
VISION 2030 ALIGNMENT

Quality of Life, the Saudi Green Initiative, and the Pilgrim Experience Program all depend on cities that can measure themselves. AFAQY deployments give operators the live evidence they need: violations captured, crowds protected, waste handled cleanly — reported in one platform, auditable end to end.
